Sacramento Library taps into Poe expertise

Published: Saturday, Sep. 28, 2013 - 12:00 am

Edgar Allan Poe is the Sacramento Public Library’s author of choice for its ninth annual One Book Sacramento program, which runs through October.

One Book invites the community to read the same book and participate in Poe-centric events such as discussions, films, prose and poetry readings at library branches and online.

The library’s “Slender Poe Anthology,” printed by its I Street Press. The book is being sold online for $20 (including shipping) at www.saclibrary.org. If you need help with ordering, drop by any library branch for assistance. Or borrow a copy.

Reading groups can participate in the library’s Bookclub in a Bag, a borrowing program featuring multiple copies of “Slender Poe” with discussion guidelines.

Cosumnes River College English professor and Poe authority John Allen Cann wrote the informative introduction to “The Slender Poe,” and writes contextually about each entry. Information: (916) 264-2920.
