Re "Fine dining, with a view" (Page A1, Sept. 30): If your reporting on Farm to Fork is fair and balanced, then we should rename the initiative "Ranch to Fork". In every Bee article I read, the focus on food was meat: a cattle drive downtown, new "pulled pork" and chicken vendors at the arena, the farmed-fish vendors at the Tower Bridge, the exciting "fresh" meat-centered menu at Ella.
Every reliable nutritional study for the past few decades points to eating unprocessed plant foods with very few saturated fats (minimizing meat or animal products such as dairy) as the best prescription for overall health.
If we really want to be recognized as a "healthy food" destination, we must take heed of the science, not the Cattlemen's and Dairymen's Associations' agenda. We should encourage very popular plant-based providers such as Veggie Grill and Herbivore to join us and stop the pig roasts.
