Sacramento State sophomore defensive end Darnell Sankey was named the Football Championship Subdivision National Defensive Player of the Week and the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Sankey had a career-high 10 tackles, including 4.5 for losses, three sacks and forced and recovered a fumble in the Hornets' 31-3 win over Weber State on Saturday.
The San Jose native had four solo tackles, six assisted tackles and a quarterback hurry. He led a defense that held Weber State to 234 total yards and recovered four fumbles.
It was Sac State's first win against the Wildcats in Ogden, Utah, in nine tries.
UC Davis sophomore Brady Stuart from Newhall was named the Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Stuart had first-half field goals of 36, 34 and 20 yards and also made three PATs in the Aggies' 30-13 victory over visiting Idaho State on Saturday.
