Re "House GOP owns reckless federal shutdown" (Editorials, Oct. 1): Nice try, Bee. Ignoring the fact that the Democratic-controlled Senate, under the questionable leadership of Majority Leader Harry Reid, refused to debate or consider any amendment sent over from the House, has shown that the editorial board is as obtuse as the members of the Senate.
The so-called Affordable Care Act was foisted upon an uninformed public by an uninformed partisan Congress, who with disturbing arrogance has exempted itself from participation. Further, while the Dems continue to shout "its the law of the land", they ignore the fact this President is breaking this law by delaying for his political donors mandated participation.
That this widely unpopular act will create hardships on the economy, through a multiple of unknowns, is of little concern to the Senate. This doesn't worry those in Congress who wallow in continued perks, privilege and disdain for those they claim to represent.
