Re "Don't bankrupt citizens" (Letters, Sept. 28): I appreciate the irony that the letter writer deemed a fellow citizen "mindless" for advocating giving Obamacare a chance.
I wonder if the writer realizes the interactive chart he references from Forbes.com came from Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, a libertarian "think-tank" funded by organizations with decidedly conservative leanings, including The Koch Family Foundation and The Bradley Foundation. Did the writer "mindlessly" accept the data on Forbes.com as factual, unbiased gospel, or has he applied the same level of mindful research to understand the impact of Obamacare that he presumably expects of others?
Also ironic: He expresses concern that citizens will "go bankrupt" if their rates increase modestly. Is he concerned about the number of U.S. citizens who go bankrupt -- or worse yet, untreated -- each year because they can't afford life-saving health care after being denied coverage?
