Finalists for the cartoon caption contest

Published: Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 - 12:00 am

This week’s contest prompted us to ponder what a pair of doves might be saying about Seattle’s chief mischief maker, Chris Hansen, as he rides a bomb down on Sacramento.

Readers lobbed a lot of missiles toward us at Hansen’s expense, and many of them were worthy. But only a trio of finalists can make the cut. Here are three that stood out.

Even if your submission didn’t make it to the finals, you have a chance to determine the winner. Vote for your favorite cartoon caption by noon Friday through an online survey at sacbee.com/opinion.

The winner, which will be based on survey results and judging by The Bee’s editorial board and cartoonist Steve Greenberg, will be revealed Sunday in California Forum. The winner will receive a signed color print of Greenberg’s cartoon with the winning caption.

“Don’t worry, he may be loaded, but the bomb isn’t.”

– Virginia Moose, Sacramento

“Don’t worry, it’s a dud. The FPPC defused it.”

– Steve Brown, Fair Oaks

“I guess nobody ever told him that pigs can’t fly.”

– Jim Perrine, Folsom
