Re "Boehner pledges to avoid default, say colleagues" (Page A1, Oct. 4): House Speaker John Boehner will not be naming his memoirs "Profiles in Courage." He appears to lack anything like courage. Faced with 80 adolescent members elected from gerrymandered districts, he chose to appease them at the expense of the nation. He knows better. He would prefer to be House Speaker than serve the nation.
The Republican House would just as soon allow the destruction of our nation as allow women to control their bodies and every American to have health care. As head counsel for the U.S. Army Joseph Welch said all those years ago: "You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir?"
