Re "Summit at White House fails to alter hard lines" (Page A1, Oct. 3): Webster's New World Dictionary defines terrorism as 'the act of terrorizing; use of force or threats to demoralize, intimidate, and subjugate, esp. such use as a political weapon or policy'. The stated goal of tea party politicians is the shutdown of the American government. They have succeeded!
When a foreign government, Iran for instance, threatens American existence, we label it a terrorist nation and install sanctions. Which, according to another front page story, are working.
It's time that we recognize the tea party for what it is; an internal terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of our country. Sanctions are needed. The most effective sanction would be the utter destruction of the tea party in the 2014 elections. A quicker solution would be for moderate Republicans to take back their party, and make it viable again. America needs a viable counterpart to the Democratic Party.
