Nick Kyrgios, 18, of Australia beat seventh-seeded Bradley Klahn, a former Stanford star, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 7-6 (4).
Today's schedule begins at 11 a.m. with a doubles semifinal involving Natomas director of tennis Brian Martinez.
Kyrgios then will meet second-seeded Tim Smyczek in the first singles semifinal, followed by Jenkins against eighth-seeded Donald Young of Atlanta.
UCD runner places 2nd
Sarah Sumpter placed second among 156 finishers in the women's 5-kilometer race in 16 minutes, 36 seconds, and Brandon Pugh took seventh in the 134-runner field in the men's 8K at 23:48, leading their UC Davis teams at the Sacramento State Inter-Regional Jamboree at Haggin Oaks, UCD reported.
Rachel Mitchell led Sac State in the women's race, finishing fourth in 16:49. Reesey Byers paced the Hornets men, placing sixth in 23:47.
UCLA won the men's and women's titles. UCD finished fourth in the men's event and Sac State seventh. The Aggies placed third in the women's race and the Hornets fourth.
No. 6 soccer team wins
Hosting its highest-ranked opponent since 2005, the Sac State men's soccer team (2-4-3) suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 6 Cal State North- ridge (9-1-0) in the Big West Conference opener for both teams, Sac State reported.
Dashiell MacNamara and Matt Wiesenfarth scored for the host UC Davis men (5-4-1) in a 2-0 victory over No. 25 UC Irvine (0-1-0) in the Big West opener for each team, UCD reported.
Goalkeeper Kimberly Mata tied her career high with 12 saves as the visiting Sac State women (6-4-2, 2-0-1 Big Sky Conference) earned a 3-0 victory over Montana (3-5-4, 0-2-1), acccording to Sac State.
