MATCHUP TO WATCH

Raiders secondary against Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers

The Raiders need to find a way to slow the Chargers' passing game, and if they can't get enough pressure on Rivers, the game could come down to how well the secondary does. Look for Rivers to go after Raiders rookie cornerback D.J. Hayden, just as Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and Robert Griffin III did in previous games. The Raiders can counter with veteran free safety Charles Woodson, who can help shut down Rivers' favorite target, tight end Antonio Gates.

THREE KEYS TO GAME

• The Raiders say the late start – because of the A's Saturday night baseball playoff game – doesn't matter. The game has been announced as a sellout, so maybe it doesn't matter to fans either. But if the Raiders fall behind early, fans could start heading home by halftime, taking away any home-field energy the Raiders might have had.

• Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor will be back after sitting out last week's loss to the Redskins with concussion symptoms, but will he be as fearless as he was before being injured? The Raiders need him to put up some points since it's unlikely they will be able to shut down Rivers.

• If Darren McFadden – injured again – can't play tonight, Rashad Jennings will be the lead running back. Jennings, acquired in the offseason, averaged just 2.8 yards per carry for the Jaguars last season. But last week Jennings had 116 total yards – 45 on 14 carries and 71 on eight catches.
