If it's November, damp and dank, it must be time to head to Mendocino and revel in mushroom culture. Mendocino in the fall is great for harvesting fungi.

Mendocino Mushroom Fest will include wine and brew

The 14th annual Mendocino County Mushroom, Wine & Beer Fest will be ready when you are, Nov. 1-10.

The multi-venue, county-wide festival will feature mushroom-centric dinners hosted by winemakers, beer- and wine-tasting, seminars, hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations, cook-offs, art exhibits, entertainment, restaurant deals, lodging packages, and guided foraging trips to uncover delectable mushrooms. Also, the Skunk Train will make special excursions, with dining and sipping at the top of the agenda.
