2013 Family History Day

Published: Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 - 5:49 pm

Are you interested in researching your family's history, but don't know how to begin? Family History Day is just the place to learn about the tools and techniques of genealogy.

The theme for this year’s program is “Emigration, Immigration and Migration.” There are over 25 related classes including those on specific ethnic groups, researching paper and online govenmental records, and organizing and presenting one’s own findings.

Participants will also have the chance to take behind-the-scenes tours of the State Archives collections and browse displays by genealogical, historical and lineage organizations.

The keynote address, "Comings and Goings in the Golden West: Resources for Tracing California's Settlers and Sojourners,” will be presented by Kathryn Marshall, author and Director of the Lodi California Family History Center.

Family History Day is sponsored by the California State Archives, the Genealogical and Historical Council of the Sacramento Valley and The California Museum.
