Re "It's time to reset reader remarks" (Joyce Terhaar, Forum, Oct. 6): Thank you for the change. Over the last year the comment section has become unreadable, with the same individuals making relatively the same comments and often adding nothing to the discussion. At its worst, it is some of these same individuals making mean comments, again, often unrelated to the story.
I read sfgate.com, too, and have such a good time reading the comment sections there (yes, I'm a liberal but I also have half a brain and enjoy witty, engaging comments -- or just more insight into a story). People are usually on point, and there is a wide variety of commenters (or at least it seems that way). I'm not sure if it is different demographics or if sfgate has a different system.
