While not keeping pace with the national fuel cost decline, gasoline prices in Northern California and throughout the state edged downward over the past month.
The average statewide price of regular unleaded gasoline fell 6 cents over the past month to $3.85 a gallon, according to the latest monthly gas price survey released by AAA.
In Northern California, the average price of $3.84 was down 4 cents from the Sept. 10 AAA survey. Sacramento came in at $3.80, also down 4 cents from last month.
By comparison, AAA said the national average was $3.35 a gallon, down 21 cents from the September survey.
AAA expects that retail prices will continue to decrease in the coming months as sufficient supplies, flat demand and cheaper winter-blend gasoline mean motorists are likely to pay less to fill their tanks, said Cynthia Harris, AAA Northern California spokeswoman.
