Re "Fear of U.S. default spreads" (Page A1, Oct. 8): Most of the people I know who have aligned themselves with the tea party think of themselves as patriots. They say the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings and proudly fly the flag on their front porches.
But since when is threatening to do irreparable damage to their country considered an act of patriotism? Think about what you're saying people -- you're threatening to throw the country into default and cause a global financial crisis if you don't get your way defunding a bill that was passed by Congress, signed into law by the president and declared constitutional by the Supreme Court. Shameful.
