Re "Tribal college plans unveiled" (Our Region, Oct. 4): California should have an accredited American Indian university, like it did before. D-Q University was California's first tribal college, second in the nation. It was not reservation based or tribally run. Following the civil rights movement, it was dedicated to improving all nations and challenging globalization to not mean that we all hop onto computers like bunnies.
It stands to reason that if a number of tribal leaders can build a California tribal college in five years, then D-Q University's community, which includes Chicanos, should be able to repair it.
