Re "Roads will be less safe" (Letters, Oct. 8): The letter writer asks: "Why is it so important the state and federal government do all they can to give illegal immigrants a pass for breaking our laws?" The answer: Votes.
I agree state and federal lawmakers should start enforcing our laws and stop looking for justification for breaking them. I don't wish anyone ill will, but the fact is that illegal immigrants broke the law and are being rewarded. If American citizens break the law, they have to pay the consequences.
How refreshing it would be if our state legislators did their jobs according to the law instead of tweaking it for their benefit then looking for justification.
