Re "D.C. divide means that both parties need to negotiate" (Viewpoints, Oct. 10): Eric Cantor, how can you make such claims with a straight face? Yes, both parties need to be willing to negotiate. However, it is the GOP that has signed a pledge with Grover Norquist to not raise taxes. Accordingly, you and your party have become a one-trick pony by only coming to "negotiate" with the one solution of cutting safety nets and entitlements.
Now, you and your tea party obstructionists have decided to hold the country hostage in order to undermine democracy because you don't like a law that was passed via the established democratic process, and subsequently vetted by the conservative-controlled U.S. Supreme Court. Your actions show that you are willing to take from the masses in order to give to the wealthy. Save the spin! Such commentaries may work on Fox "News", but the rest of us don't buy it.
