What: Talk with a pet psychic, let your dog run through an agility or plan your dog or cat’s birthday party at the Sacramento Puppy and Kitten Show at Cal Expo. There will also be AKC breed and puppy competitions and a Howl-O-Ween dog costume contest.

What : Turn Verein’s 46th annual Oktoberfest continues today in east Sacramento. In addition to German food and an outdoor beer garden, Gruber Family Band, a traditional German band, will play in the main hall.

Cost: Admission is $20; children 6 to 12, $5; no charge for children 5 and younger.

What: Roseville Electric will host its inaugural Family Fest – featuring a “truck exploration zone,” food trucks and a kids zone – at the Vernon Street Town Square. Radio Disney provides a live stage performance.

Bark ’n’ Splash in Folsom

What: It’s fall – leash up Fido and head for the pool at the Bark ’n’ Splash Bash at Folsom Aquatic Center. Dogs can swim and frolic in the activity pool, which features a play structure and sloped beach-style entry into the water. A variety of dog-related groups and vendors will provide information and products. You may also purchase a dog license, rabies vaccine and microchip implant for permanent identification of your pet. Participants must provide written proof of current license for dogs, which must be on-leash for entry.

When: 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Cost: Dogs $10; humans free.

Symphony opens season

What: The Camellia Symphony Orchestra will host its Free Family Concert Series with Instrument Petting Zoo. The concert, Folk Inspirations, at the Sacramento City College Performing Arts Center will also include a visual art element presented by I Can Do THAT!, which will offer “funshops” for children to create art related to the musical experience. Dr. Christian Baldini will lead the orchestra.
