Sacramento Bee readers share their gardening adventures.

Sacramento gardener Elizabeth Varadan raised more than grapes in her arbor this summer. A pair of doves also made themselves at home. Next to clusters of grapes, two eggs eventually hatched and the doves raised their little family — two chicks.

“This summer, a pair of doves made their nest in the grape arbor in front of our garage,” Varandan said. “As we watched them day by day, the baby doves finally hatched out and I was able to snap photos of one of the parents feeding them.”
