MATCHUP TO WATCH
Raiders defensive line vs. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith
The Raiders can send the blitz from every angle, and Smith said he expects them to vary their looks and send extra rushers. Said Smith to The Associated Press as the teams prepared for today's game: "I think every guy on that defense is coming at one point or another, all 11 guys." The Raiders need to put pressure on Smith and try to force mistakes, though that may be asking too much. The Chiefs are an NFL-best plus-10 in turnover ratio, mostly because Smith has been intercepted just three times and the Chiefs have lost just two fumbles.
THREE KEYS TO GAME
Historically, Arrowhead Stadium has been a tough place for opponents, but it was much quieter last season when the Chiefs went 2-14. Today, Chiefs fans are bringing back the roar, attempting to break a Guinness world record for loudest crowd in an outdoors sports stadium 136.6 decibels set in September by the Seahawks against the 49ers. Can the Raiders handle the noise? Will it affect them as it did the 49ers in Seattle?
Raiders runnng backs Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings are both listed as questionable with troublesome hamstrings. If one or both can't play, the Raiders will need to rely even more on quarterback Terrelle Pryor as a runner, too.
Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, who signed a five-year, $56 million deal in the offseason, has only 17 catches for 183 yards. The Raiders allowed 391 yards passing against the Chargers last week. Will this be the week for Bowe to have a big breakout game?
