There can be negotiation if demand is unacceptable

Re "GOP had no choice" (Letters, Oct. 12): You cannot place a demand on the other side that is impossible to accept. Obamacare is that demand placed by one side. In this case, the Republican House has tried to repeal Obamacare 40 times and the Senate has rejected this. Now Republicans have introduced this into budgeting and debt limit demands. Where can there be a compromise?

It seems to me the weight of obstructionism falls on Congress.
