Gov. Brown steers middle course on firearms legislation

Re "Brown signs ban on lead ammo" (Page A1, Oct. 12) While I am not 100 percent happy with some of the anti-gun legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, I must admit his was a pragmatic answer to "hot button" issues. While I disagree with the ban on lead ammunition for hunting, at least there is sufficient time (six years) for the industry to design and market the ammunition that must be substituted for ammunition that has been used for more than 200 years.

Brown vetoed the most egregious of the rabid anti-2nd amendment proposals, and I hope these hysterical restrictions will be vetoed when they surely come up yet again. Remember that there are 300 million guns in this country that didn't kill any school children last year.
