Cut off overpaid government contractors first

Re "Debt crisis likely to postpone billions in aid" (Page A1, Oct. 14): The article suggests the Obama administration has the power to delay payment for Social Security, food stamps and unemployment benefits if agreement to raise the debt ceiling is not reached.

If the administration has the power to make these choices, it might consider instead delaying payment of our overpaid government contractors. If the administration had the guts to do this or even to threaten it, we might well solve the debt ceiling problem on a permanent basis.
