Re "Latest 'strong mayor' effort is far too rushed" (Editorials, Oct. 14): Discussions around the issue of whether to have a "strong mayor" in Sacramento have taken place for the last four years. The City Council and others have done appropriate due diligence to determine the positives and negatives of such a configuration.
If Sacramento is to be anything closely resembling the world-class city many envision, we must recognize that it's time for action on this front. The major provisions of this proposal have been covered in the scores of meetings and discussions that have already taken place among the stakeholders, elected officials and thought leaders of our community. The Sacramento Metro Chamber supports a "strong mayor" configuration and we are ready to move this forward in a practical rather than theoretical manner.
