Pascale Fusshoeller, left, a well-known Web editor in the Sierra foothills, leaves the John E. Moss Federal Building on Tuesday after she was released from immigration custody for running a stop sign a week earlier in Nevada City and allegedly attempting to use the ID of her wife, Susan Levitz, right. Fusshoeller, who emigrated from Luxembourg 15 years ago, has lived here on an expired visa but on July 22 married Levitz. Fusshoeller has applied for U.S. citizenship, said her criminal lawyer, Tom Johnson. The couple wed less than a month after gay marriages resumed in California following a U.S. Supreme Court decision.
