Re "Pay the nation's bills, reopen the U.S. government" (Editorials, Oct. 16): The Bee's editorial board displayed an amazing attribution bias by trying to link a single Confederate flag-bearing protester to the so-called federal government shutdown. The House has passed several versions of a budget, as the Constitution directs. It is the Senate that is being "radical" by not accepting any one of the proposed budgets and thus causing the "shutdown."
If the dire consequences of putting 17 percent of the federal government on temporary hold was really that bad, perhaps similar to the sequester "cliff" that nobody even notices today, then the Senate would have accepted the House version that had only one "unclean" provision -- that Congress participate in Obamacare.
I say, carry on House members. If the editorial board has to go into such obvious propaganda mode, they're doing something right.
