Clouds loom above the Judge Davis Trail looking west in Lake County last month. The hike is a 10.6-mile, out-and-back proposition on rolling hills with gorgeous views of the Wilson Valley from the ridge line. There’s an elevation gain of 2,600 feet. The trail is named after one Isaac E. Davis, who served from 1857-62 – reportedly without previously having had “any known legal training.”
