Re "Manufactured crisis did real harm -- for what?" (Editorials, Oct. 17): Abraham Lincoln was absolutely right when he said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Today's Republican Party is by no means "the party of Lincoln."
Today's Republican Party, and especially its tea party extremists, need to learn constructive cooperation instead of political combat. The well-demonstrated alternative, the status quo, is literally a collapsing House, and all of us are the casualties.
