North Highlands-based SAFE Credit Union announced that it will move its headquarters to Folsom in late 2014.
The credit union, established in 1940 and operating in a North Highlands building with about 50,000 square feet since 1999, will move its corporate offices into nearly 65,000 square feet at 2295 Iron Point Road a space formerly occupied by trash hauler and recycler Waste Connections Inc.
Waste Connections relocated to Texas in 2011.
SAFE Credit Union purchased the three-story building in Folsom for an undisclosed price.
SAFE officials said the move will enable it to consolidate some 250 workers currently spread out over three office sites. SAFE said it has spent the past year searching throughout the Sacramento region for a new headquarters site.
This move results from a long-term outlook of our future growth and our current needs for space, said CEO Henry Wirz. We want all of our teams to be in one building to improve communication and teamwork, and gain as many efficiencies as possible in serving our membership.
Over the last 10 years alone, SAFE said assets its manages have swelled from $500 million to $2 billion. SAFE serves more than 170,000 members through 21 branches in the Sacramento region.
