Re "California cannot allow BART strike to drag on" (Editorial, Oct. 19): It's hard to ignore the similarities between the BART strike and the government shut down. In both cases, a small but vocal part of the population has caused a nightmare for hundreds of thousands of their fellow citizens. congressional Republicans and BART unions seem to think they had the majority of the public supporting them, only to swake up and smell the truth.
I'm concerned we now live in an echo chamber society, where we create a false reality on issues like these simply by surrounding outselves with like-minded people and media. It took congressional Republicans 16 days to get the message. Let's hope BART unions are faster learners.
