Drake Tofi rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and Mike Hicks passed for 254 yards and three touchdowns and ran for one as host American River College remained unbeaten with a 50-27 victory Saturday over San Joaquin Delta in a Mid-Empire Conference opener.

Tyler Trosin caught seven passes for 125 yards and three touchdowns for the Beavers (6-0), ranked No. 2 in Northern California.

• Sophomore quarterback Caden Voges completed 24 of 32 passes for 425 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on eight carries – all in the first half – as Sacramento High School crushed Kennedy 63-0 in a Metro Conference game in Oak Park.

Kyree Stephens had eight catches for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and Lonny Powell scored touchdowns on an interception return, a 67-yard run and a 28-yard reception.

Voges has passed for 2,278 yards and 26 touchdowns this season, helping the Dragons to a 5-2 overall record and 3-1 league mark. Kennedy fell to 0-7 and 0-4.

UCD runners finish 20th

The UC Davis men's cross country team finished 20th in the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., and the women placed 21st in the 2013 Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, UCD reported.

In the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational, Amar Dholakia and Olivia Goins led the UC Davis men and women, respectively. Dholakia finished 60th and Goins 91st.

General

• Cal Poly's Mackenzie Pridham scored twice, including the game winner in the 79th minute, to lead the visiting Mustangs (9-6-0, 2-3-0 Big West Conference) to a 2-1 win over Sacramento State (2-8-3, 0-5-0) in men's soccer, Sac State reported.

Freshman Andrew Gosselin scored his first career goal for Sac State to tie the score in the 71st minute after Pridham got the game's first tally in the 64th minute.

• The Sac State volleyball team (10-11, 5-5 Big Sky Conference) hit a season-best .398, and four Hornets hit at least .400 on the way to a 25-17, 16-25, 25-16, 25-8 victory over visiting Montana State, Sac State reported.
