The historic Groveland Hotel displays a “vacancy” sign on a Friday night in Groveland on Friday, October 18, 2013. Businesses suffered a double-whammy for the communities near Yosemite National Park. First came the Rim fire, with its weeks of evacuations and road closures. Then the 16 days of the federal government shutdown. These communities rely on tourism dollars, and have lost millions in what would have been the height of the season.
