Pine Mountain Deli owner Pamela Harris weeps as she closes her business of 10 years in Groveland on Friday, October 18, 2013. Harris says she had to spend all of her savings to stay open after the loss of business due to the recent Rim fire. And when the the federal government shutdown closed nearby Yosemite National Park to visitors, she had no customers left to support the business. Businesses suffered a double-whammy for the communities near Yosemite National Park. First came the Rim fire, with its weeks of evacuations and road closures. Then the 16 days of the federal government shutdown. These communities rely on tourism dollars, and have lost millions in what would have been the height of the season.
