Re "Crime Q&A" ((Page B2, Oct. 20): Regarding a 1987 incident involving a local weatherman, Norman Jacobs, I'd like readers to know the rest of the story.
Norm Jacobs did make a serious mistake, but he had the presence of mind to recognize his error, to immediately seek treatment, and to take full responsibility for his behavior.
Since then he has maintained his sobriety and his life has been characterized by community service, including promoting and supporting a local food bank and serving as president of his Temple.
His marriage has remained intact and is a particularly happy one. Today, Norm is a well-respected member of the community with numerous friends. His success in turning his life around is a wonderful example for anyone else who has made a serious mistake and is wondering if life can ever be good again. I am proud to call Norm Jacobs my friend.
