Kings fall short, lose to Portland 109-105

PORTLAND Ore. -- Patrick Patterson scored 27 points and Ben McLemore added 23 points, but that wasn’t enough as the Kings lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 109-105, Sunday night at Moda Center in preseason play. The Kings (3-2) trailed by as many as 19 points before rallying in the fourth quarter and briefly leading by two. But Blazers prevailed behind Damian Lillard, who scored a game-high 28 points for the Blazers (4-2). Isaiah Thomas added 15 points and 10 assists for the Kings. The Kings had won three consecutive preseason games before Sunday. The Kings rested center DeMarcus Cousins and the Blazers sat out star forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
