Re "A new name for SureWest" (Our Region, Oct. 22): It is with sadness that we bid farewell to the Roseville Telephone Company.
The company that provided telephone service to Roseville and Citrus Heights for over a century and later to Kansas City, was founded by Roseville pioneer William Doyle. It is hard to imagine and certainly a tribute to Doyle and his associates that his little local phone company, during a century that was dominated by the virtual monopoly of Ma Bell, survived and thrived as the rebranded SureWest.
This one, William Doyle, and to visionaries and risk takers such as yourself, everywhere.
