Guava Rose’s sweet potato Halloween snacks

I was so excited to think of making these jack-o’-lantern faces and ghosts with roasted sweet potato slices – something healthful and festive. I didn’t find out until after I had made them, and did a little surfing online, that someone had already done the sweet potato jack-o’-lantern faces last year.

Oh well, it’s still a great idea, and even greater that so many people are thinking up of ways to make simple holiday foods.

Sac Biz Lunch has scoop on Sleep Train Arena’s farm-to-fork concessions

K Street Deli is a new concession on the south side of Sleep Train, featuring Niman Ranch slow-roasted porchetta sandwiches and Mary’s Organics’ roasted chicken sandwiches, on artisan ciabatta rolls, with a side of County Line Farms’ mustard green salad.

Also: Full Belly Farms wheat berry salad with red Russian kale, roasted squash, roasted pecans, goat cheese and organic honey-curry vinaigrette. Dessert: Marchini Farms heirloom apple cobbler, and satsuma tangerine tiramisu.

A Girl and Her Fork reviews Les Baux

Les Baux is owned by the owners of La Bou, and when you walk in you’re greeted by a glass case for breads and pastries. I was there early on a Sunday and there were only a smattering of breads, scones and cookies out. How odd.

My friend and I decided to dine inside and were told to seat ourselves. The menu’s pretty short but it has some nice variety and you can order breakfast or lunch items. I opted for the “3-day” french toast and my friend got a cup of the croissant pudding and a side of applewood-smoked bacon.
