The Bee posse's weekly update of the latest in area conditions, bargains, etc.
Course What you need to know
Catta Verdera Sweet greens running quick and consistent; good pace of play
Chardonnay Plan extra 30 minutes because of highway construction; conditions mostly good with a couple of aerified fairways; friendly staff and fantastic setting
Dry Creek Great track in mostly good shape; amenities and service not up to par
Haggin Oaks Large oak tree guarding the front left of MacKenzie's No. 7 green is gone
Lockeford Springs Gets one vote for area's best weekday course for $34 including cart; add up conditions of greens, fairways and bunkers relative to value and it's a 10
Mather Greens, punched Oct. 7-8, iffy for county four-ball last weekend but should be better this weekend; fairways thin; hot dogs good, not great
The Ridge Greens still far from their best after being punched Oct. 7-9
Teal Bend The new Elverta Road interchange on Highway 99 will open today, which means no more detour routing, better access to the course
Whitney Oaks Post-aerification prime rates ($25 weekdays, $35 weekends) through Oct. 31
WildHawk Pretty good (B-) overall with some greens a little spongy, some fairways sparse and some areas near greens bare
Aerified last week: Diamond Oaks, Lincoln Hills (Hills)
Aerified this week: Lincoln Hills (Orchard), Whitney Oaks
Scheduled to aerify next week: Ancil Hoffman, Wildhorse
