Another food manufacturer from Japan is about to set up shop in West Sacramento.
City officials and executives from SACTO, the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization, on Friday will announce they have landed a Japanese food company for the Southport Business Park. The company will build a production facility and its U.S. headquarters at the site.
Officials declined to identify the company Thursday.
Were very excited about this, said Barbara Hayes, executive director of SACTO. Theyre going to be tapping into the natural resources of the region.
She said the company is expected to employ a good many folks from the Sacramento region, but she wouldnt provide details.
It will be the companys first U.S. operation, she said.
Just two months ago, a Japanese food-seasoning company called Nippon Shokken opened its first U.S. plant in West Sacramento, also in the Southport park. The plant has the capacity to employ up to 400 workers.
