Re "Remember those who flirted with default (Editorial, Oct. 20): Thank you for exposing the irresponsible behavior of some of our local members of Congress: Tom McClintock, Doug LaMalfa, and Jeff Denham.
Their temper tantrum has cost the country billions, lost jobs, and interrupted services. A majority of the people voted for President Barack Obama and his policies. Democracy relies on an informed electorate, and your editorial will help people to know whom to trust.
Representatives need to remember that they are exactly that: representatives of the people, not the aristocracy. Let's hope that when elections roll around, people will remember the arrogance of these naysayers and remember the representatives you named in your article who stood up to pressure from other members of the Republican Party: Kevin McCarthy, David Valadao, and Devin Nunes.
