Pleasantly warm, sunny over the weekend

Weather forecasters are calling for a pleasantly warm weekend, but more fall-like conditions are expected to arrive early next week.

Mostly sunny conditions are forecast today, with temperatures cooler than what we’ve seen during the week. Today’s high will be near 74.

Highs near 80 will return over the weekend, giving way to cooler temperatures starting Monday.

The National Weather Service says the weeklong pattern of cool mornings and evenings will continue this weekend. Overnight temperatures will drop into the 40s.

Here’s the long-term seven-day NWS forecast for the Sacramento region:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Light wind, around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. Light wind.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 80, with light wind.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.

Monday: Mostly sunny and cooler, with a high near 70.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 73.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43.

Thursday: Sunny and slightly warmer, with a high near 77.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45.
