Re "Raymond took on teacher's union" (Marcos Breton): Kudos to Marcos Breton for telling the truth about Superintendent Jonathan Raymond's accomplishments.
We are appalled at the tone and content of the vicious letters to the editor following Raymond's announced departure. He definitely deserves better, and Breton's column demonstrates why.
It has been painful to watch Raymond be trashed for conditions caused by our district's and state's stronger concerns about politics, unions, status quo and curtailing financial support.
Also overlooked had been parental responsibility and involvement. The public schools here need strong leadership to dig out of the hole created by provincial thinking, the tunnel vision of the teacher's union, and gross under-funding of education.
