Re "Raymond took on teacher's union" (Marcos Breton): Thank you, Marcos Breton for your excellent farewell column on Superintendent Jonathan Raymond.
It's frustrating to see such a positive force for elevating the quality of education in Sacramento leave after a relatively short tenure.
"In a state where the teachers unions control politicians, Raymond was ripe for being fired with an agenda that actually put kids first," Breton wrote.
It's sad that voters, parents, taxpayers, and educators allow this to continue and for unions to slavishly cling to tenure policies, laws that protect bad and even criminal teachers, last-in first-out policies, which fail our children.
Leadership on education may be the best reason yet for a strong mayor form of governance in Sacramento.
