A man was shot multiple times in his car in Del Paso Heights on Sunday afternoon as his 2-year-old brother sat nearby, Sacramento police reported.

The child, a passenger in the car, was not injured, said police Officer Michele Gigante. The driver's injuries, including a wound to the face, were not believed to be life threatening, she said.

At about 4 p.m. the unidentified victim was sitting in his car at Taylor Street and Ford Road when a white car pulled up beside him and an occupant of the other vehicle opened fire, Gigante said.

Scanner traffic at the time indicated that an ambulance crew was bringing the victim of a drive-by shooting to UC Davis Medical Center with seven gunshot wounds, including to the thigh and elbow.

The shooting occurred the same day that one person was killed and six were injured in a drive-by shooting at a Halloween party about 2 miles away on Del Paso Bouelvard in North Sacramento. Gigante said she could not speculate whether there was any connection between the two incidents.
