Victoria Loustalot, a New York-based freelance writer, was in Sacramento earlier this month and talked about her newly published memoir, “This Is How You Say Goodbye.” In the book she writes about her father, who announced he was gay and had HIV when she was 4 years old and the family was living in east Sacramento. Nearly seven years later, in 1996, he died, shortly before Victoria turned 11.
