Safely in Sacramento's embrace after an off-season that nearly saw them sold out of the city that has been their home since 1985, the Kings open their 2013-14 NBA season by hosting the Denver Nuggets at Sleep Train Arena at 7 o'clock Wednesday.
The television broadcast on KXTV Channel 10 will be hosted by play-by-play man Grant Napear, a fixture at Kings TV and radio microphones since 1988. Former Kings coach and executive Jerry Reynolds will provide color commentary.
The game will be broadcast on Sacramento radio station KHTK 1140 AM with Gary Gerould, who has done Kings play-by-play since they arrived in Sacramento, describing the action.
Online, the game can be followed via a sacbee.com live blog, providing scoring updates, highlights and comment.
To get fans fired up, a FanFest has been scheduled at 4 p.m. Wednesday in front of Sleep Train Arena's southwest and southeast entrances. The VIPs presumably including members of the Kings new ownership group will visit the fan event, The Bee's Ryan Lillis has reported. Those same important folks will amble across a purple carpet, past risers set up for fans, in a celebrity stroll into the game.
