Re "Cash flows to arena's foes" (Our Region, Nov. 1): The groups opposed to a $258 million public subsidy to build a downtown Kings arena are not necessarily opposed to a new arena. They are foes of corporate welfare, financial recklessness and good-old-boy government.
The reporters who wrote the story defined the petition drive as an anti-subsidy issue. In an era of multi-million-dollar campaigns, $40,000 is hardly an example of cash flowing into a campaign.
The Bee should exercise care in how it represents the position of people opposed to a giveaway of public money. Credibility counts in serious journalism.
