Sacramento International Airport officials are reporting that several previously delayed flights to Los Angeles International Airport have been given clearance to take off.
Federal Aviation Administration officials had grounded many but not all flights to and from the Los Angeles airport Friday morning after a gunman opened fire at a federal security checkpoint, injuring several people. Officials at mid-morning said a suspect is in custody.
One flight from Sacramento was diverted to Ontario after the shooting, a flight from Los Angeles was cancelled, and several flights were delayed. Airlines got the go ahead in early afternoon to resume some flights.
Sacramento officials, however, are asking fliers to check with their airlines first for flight status before coming to the airport.
