Regional Digest: Sac State routs Menlo in men's basketball exhibition

Mikh McKinney scored a game-high 22 points, and Dylan Garrity added 12 points to help Sacramento State to a 79-56 win over Menlo in a men's basketball exhibition game Friday at the Nest, Sac State reported.

It was the only exhibition game for the Hornets, who open the regular season next Friday at home against UC Santa Cruz at 7:35 p.m. That game will follow the Sac State women's season opener against Cal State Northridge at 5:05 p.m.

• Alyson Doherty had a game-high 20 points and six rebounds, sparking the host UC Davis women to an 80-59 exhibition victory over Humboldt State, UCD reported. The Aggies open the regular season next Friday at 7 p.m. against visiting USC.

UCD golfers in 3rd place

Ben Corfee shot a 3-under-par 68, leading the UC Davis men's golf team to third place after the second day of the SCVB Pacific Invitational at Stockton Country Club.

The Aggies trail BYU by 19 strokes and Saint Mary's by three in the three-day, 12-team tournament. Pacific is eighth, 25 shots back.

Joe Parkinson of BYU shot a 65 for a 130 total to lead the individual competition by five strokes over teammate Justin Keiley. UCD's Matt Hansen is fifth at 137, and Corfee is tied for 10th at 140.

General

• Brett Bacharach of UC Davis upset third-seeded Robert Stineman of Stanford 7-5, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals of the Pacific Tiger Invitational in Stockton.

• Bernie Rogers scored five goals and Chris Richardson three, leading the No. 17 UC Davis men (10-12, 2-0 Western Water Polo Association) to a 12-10 victory over No. 12 Loyola Marymount (11-11, 1-2) in Los Angeles, UCD reported.
